Securing Tamper Resistant Devices – Introduction to Timing Attacks, SPA and DPA

1-day Tutorial at RSA Conference on April 7th, 2008

Cryptography Research, Inc. (CRI) will hold a one-day workshop entitled Securing Tamper Resistant Devices – Introduction to Timing Attacks, SPA and DPA’ at the RSA Conference 2008, on April 7th at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.

The workshop provides an introduction to timing attacks and power analysis attacks such as SPA and DPA. CRI will examine practical design approaches to countering power analysis threats and review the state of associated U.S. and international security certifications.

CRI will demonstrate a live DPA attack and attendees will have the opportunity to perform SPA to interpret power traces and recover a simulated PIN.

The prime audiences for the workshop include developers and architects of hardware and software security products, as well as evaluators and technical writers of requirements for tamper resistant products. Technologists designing and testing tamper resistant systems for consumer products, financial systems, anti-piracy/conditional access systems, or government/defense applications are encouraged to attend.

The workshop will take place from 9.00am – 3.00pm on Monday April 7th as part of the pre-conference tutorial program. Special pre-conference registration is required.
