Security system leader Cryptography Research selected to present on contactless technology and smart card security evaluation at Cartes 2005
San Francisco, Calif., November 7, 2005 - Cryptography Research, Inc. (CRI), a worldwide leader in security systems, today announced it will lead two lecture sessions at next week’s Cartes show near Paris, France. Cartes is the leading smart card industry event and is expected to attract more than 15,000 visitors.
Benjamin Jun, Vice President of Technology, will speak on “Protection, security and privacy in contactless deployments”. His talk is part of the “Contactless Technology and its Applications” session being held on Wednesday, November 16, 2005.
Contactless technology is developing in a number of fields and, as with all smart card technologies, security issues are a primary focus for the industry. Participants attending Jun’s presentation will find out about new challenges in eavesdropping, privacy, cloning, and other vulnerabilities related to interface technologies for contactless devices. Special attention will be paid to the design principles that address security needs of contactless platforms.
In the presentation entitled “Evaluation of smart cards against side channel attacks”, Ken Warren, Smart Card Business Manager, will discuss effective approaches for testing the security of smart card products against these threats. Defenses against side channel attacks, which include power analysis and other non-invasive techniques, are an important focus for the security-conscious smart card industry. The talk is part of the “Card and Security” session on Thursday, November 17, 2005.
